Prince William and Kate Middleton have officially named their newborn baby boy George Alexander Louis and now some history behind the name has been discovered!

If you didn’t know, Queen Elizabeth‘s father, whose real name was Albert, chose the name when he became King George VI back in 1936. When the newborn becomes King one day, he will be able to keep his name and become King George VII or choose another name!

Alexander is believed to have been chosen to honor Queen Elizabeth, whose middle name is Alexandra. Many people predicted that to be the baby’s first name if she had been a girl.

There are many people the name Louis could have been chosen to honor, including Prince William himself, whose full name is William Arthur Philip Louis! Other possibilities include Prince Philip‘s grandfather Prince Louis Alexander of Battenberg and also Prince Charles‘ uncle Earl Louis Mountbatten, according to People.
