Randy Jackson Re-Joins 'American Idol', Replaces Jimmy Iovine as Mentor

Randy Jackson is set to return to American Idol next year as the in-house mentor for contestants, replacing Jimmy Iovine, according to Deadline.

The 57-year-old former Idol judge announced at the end of the show’s last season that he would not be coming back again as a judge, but it seems he can’t get away from the show!

Jimmy was hired in season ten to fill the void left by Simon Cowell‘s knowledge as a music executive. Even though he won’t be with the show anymore, there might still be a top music producer on the judging panel as Dr. Luke is in talks to join Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban.

There are also rumors swirling that Justin Bieber‘s manager Scooter Braun could take the vacant seat on the panel, according to Us Weekly.
