Philip Seymour Hoffman's Showtime Series 'Happyish' in Limbo

Philip Seymour Hoffman was not just working on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay before his untimely death… he also was set to star in a new Showtime series called Happyish.

The 46-year-old actor was set to star in the 10 episode series, his first regular TV role. The series follows a man’s pursuit of happiness while working for bosses who are half his age.

Showtime released a statement after his death saying, “Philip Seymour Hoffman was one of our generation’s finest and most brilliant actors. He was also a gifted comedic talent. It was a great privilege and pleasure to work with him and we are all absolutely devastated by this sudden loss. Our thoughts go out to his family at this very difficult time.”

A trailer for the series was screened at the 2014 Winter TCA Press Tour last month and got great reviews from the nearly 200 critics in the room, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It is currently unclear if the network will recast the lead role or just pull the plug on the series altogether.
