Jaime King Reveals Why She Posted a Breastfeeding Photo

Jaime King looks gorgeous in a black dress while attending the premiere of the new film The Rover on Thursday (June 12) at the Regency Bruin Theatre in Los Angeles.

Also in attendance at the event were Rachael Taylor, Bar Paly, and the movie’s star Robert Pattinson‘s Twilight co-stars Peter Facinelli and Rami Malek.

Jaime recently spoke out about the breastfeeding photo she posted on her Instagram account this week and revealed why she decided to do it.

“I feel like now that I’m a mother, I realize that there’s a huge schism out there; that women feel judged because of what they choose to do and how they choose to feed their child. Why should we hide it?” Jaime told People. “I also wanted to share the idea that it doesn’t matter whether you breastfeed or formula feed –as long as you are loving and caring for your child, that’s all that matters.”

“The responses from mothers were so grateful because there have been people out in the media being very judgmental, saying women have to breastfeed, or have to do this or have to do that,” Jaime added. “I think that it’s really unfair for anybody in the spotlight — any sort of celebrity who has a very privileged life — to go out there and tell mothers what to do when they don’t understand their socioeconomic circumstances, when they don’t understand their health circumstances, when they don’t understand what their life is about.”

FYI: Jaime is wearing a For Love & Lemons dress and Joan Hornig earrings.

It annoys me that people still argue about this… It’s the most natural thing!!

I agree that some are very judgmental about breast feeding or not breast feeding. Other women and their dogmatic opinions that they are right and you are wrong are another woman’s worst enemy.

wow! Some women really dont mature at all in their whole life.

@Gisele: Pooping also very natural things, but its doesn’t means I want to see people pooping.

@Living in a box: LOL. You are so ignorant and puritan.

@Living in a box: But she’s not using the bathroom, she’s feeding her kid. That’s not even on the name level. Ew. People use Instagram to post food all the time…well, she’s feeding her kid. She’s not exposing herself, she’s not showing anything you wouldn’t see on the red carpet…cleavage, underboob, no n*pple. Leave her alone. Whether she’s attention seeking or not, she’s definitely not doing anything inappropriate.

Nothing against her but I don’t understand the obsession of taking selfies to this point. People post pictures of them crying, “sleeping”, with wounds from stabbing lol (I saw that), in a hospital bed, breastfeeding…what’s the point except attention. I mean 10 years ago would you have shown pictures like this to everyone?

@olive: Preach. Going to France and taking a selfie with Effiel Tower behind you? I get it. Going to a concert or a premiere and taking a picture of the celebrity in the background behind you to show where you are? I get it. But taking pictures of you just to be like “makeup free no filter” or all the other reasons you mentioned it? I don’t get it. I don’t think there was anything “wrong” with Jaime’s photo, but I also don’t feel the need for her or anyone else to just take selfies of everything. She could also make the points she was trying to make in her speech without posting pictures of her baby.

    Eiffel Tower * oops lol

    Reba Says:

Breast-feeding doesn’t bother me a single bit. what bothers me is that celebs feel the need to display it on social media so often. You don’t see loads of everyday folk posting selfies breat-feeding, do you? And they pose in a way which suggests it is about ‘them’ and their need to be the center of attention. Why aren’t you looking at your baby? There is a disconnect when you’re posing for the camera while doing something so natural.
