Frances Bean Cobain Slams Lana Del Rey Over 'I Wish I Were Dead' Comments

Frances Bean Cobain has taken to her Twitter account to publicly denounce the comments that Lana Del Rey made in an interview saying “I wish I were dead already.”

In case you didn’t know, Frances is the daughter of Kurt Cobain, the Nirvana rocker who died when he was just 27.

“the death of young musicians isn’t something to romanticize,” Frances tweeted at Lana. “I’ll never know my father because he died young & it becomes a desirable feat because ppl like u think it’s ‘cool.’ Well, it’s f–king not. Embrace life, because u only get one life. The ppl u mentioned wasted that life. Don’t be 1 of those ppl.

“I’m not attacking anyone. I have no animosity towards Lana, I was just trying to put things in perspective from personal experience,” she later added.

While Lana did say that comment in a recent interview, she tried distancing herself from the remarks by saying the reporter was using leading and calculated questions.

Frances Bean is right people should not romanticize death it is nothing to laugh about.

  • Franson

Great, what one person who nobody cares about is commenting on what another person who nobody cares about has said.

  • Stanley

Well, you care enough to write a comment about it….

  • zey

i listened to the audio .. the reporter asked her 3 times the same question if she thinks death is glamorous she answered each time.. the 3rd time she said all the people who did were glamorous and BOOOM!

  • allison

@Franson: Actually Lana mentioned Frances Bean’s father. So she had the right to respond. It’s Just Jared that is making it news.

  • nm

    well, she’s right.

  • courtney

Frances Bean is right Lana & her ilk are wrong the glamorize death she never got to know her dad because he died when she was a baby correct she was born August 18th 1992 and Kurt died April 5th 1994

  • Lily

Frances sounds so mature even with a poor lost mother. She got my admiration now!

  • Sheyenne

I think Lana (like a bunch of these celebrities) just says what she thinks sounds cool. And now that she’s put her foot in her mouth she wants to backtrack. Frances Bean did the right thing, somebody needs to tell Lana to stop talking out her ass!

  • go go

francis is right, so sad she couldnt know her father, lana just wants to sell her stupid album

  • Sage

Well, Lana isn’t known for having a brain. She idolizes weird sh!t and personally, I think she’s a messed up girl. Frances is right, and it’s nice to see th

  • yep

Well said, Frances. Lana Del Dummy is so stupid. She doesn’t even know what is feminism and that interview is ridiculous. EVERYTHING about that interview is ridiculous. Her fans are stupid too. I feel sorry for that reporter.
It’s funny when we see these two “together”. Their faces are so strange.

  • lol

Who cares Lana can say wtf she wants to, its her damn mouth. Francis needs to shut the hell up already all she does is nag at celebrities. YOUR father was a druggie, now stop acting like your so *~ above it ~*

  • yep

@lol: “YOUR father was a druggie.” So? It has nothing to do with it. Lana is an alcoholic.

  • Amy

It seems like she may have inherited some of her Mother’s crazy.

  • Bri

@Amy: Really? Cause I think Lana’s the crazy one in this context. Frances has a right to express her view when Lana says a ridiculous thing like that in an interview. It’s clear that it’s been really difficult for Frances knowing that her father did that to himself and she’s right that it shouldn’t be glamorized. Death is meaningless and it causes so much pain to those who love you.

  • be quiet little girl

WHO? She is who, and what has she done for society? Just cause your last name is Cobain doesnt mean I should drink your koolaid.
