Emma Watson: Gender Equality is a Men's Issue Too

Emma Watson clutches her purse while taking photos at the UN Women’s HeForShe VIP After Party held at The Peninsula Hotel on Saturday evening (September 20) in New York City.

Earlier in the day, the 24-year-old actress and UN Goodwill Ambassador donned a totally different look while helping to launch the campaign.

“How can we effect change in the world when only half of it is invited to participate in the conversation?” Emma said during the event. “Men, I would like to take this opportunity to extend your formal invitation. Gender equality is your issue, too.”

Emma continued, “I’ve seen my father’s role as a parent being valued less by society. I’ve seen young men suffering from illness, unable to ask for help for fear it will make them less of a man …. I’ve seen men fragile and insecure by what constitutes male success. Men don’t have the benefits of equality, either. We don’t want to talk about men being imprisoned by gender stereotypes but I can see that they are.”

FYI: Emma is wearing a Hugo Boss dress, Roger Vivier shoes, an m2malletier bag, and Jennifer Fisher, Halleh, and Monica Vinade jewels.

Oh my god shut up b!tch! So tired of reading about your stupid speeches about how women this women that. Then you go and say men need gender equality too when those “feminists” you hang out with complain about men being men. It’s a pity that everyone falls for anyone even associated with the UN club when they’re the exact opposite of what they stand for behind closed doors.

Emma is so right, her speech was amazing.

she’s so overrated both in looks and talent

YMMV but I actually ended up earning more as a female than my male counterpart (who had a lot more technical background than I did, he just got hired at the wrong time and I got lucky).

    Go Emma!!

Ugh these UN celebrities again!!! Their speeches are always the most contrived, redundant and yawn-inducing things I have ever heard. Gender equality is such a non-issue in this day and age but of course she doesn’t have the brains to talk about any real issues, and can only do what she has been ordered to. She just comes across so brain-washed. This isn’t going to save her career either – she can’t act, and everyone knows it. Soon enough the Harry Potter after-effects will wear off and she will have to fall back on her second-rate Ivy degree and get a real job. She seriously needs to get over herself.
