Orange Is the New Black's Lea DeLaria Shuts Down Anti-Gay Subway Preacher (Video)

Orange Is the New Black star Lea DeLaria is known for her awesome role on the hit Netflix series and now she is getting kudos for something she did in real life.

The actress was riding on a New York City subway on Tuesday morning (November 4) when a man started preaching lines from the bible and referenced the “sin of homosexuality.”

“You have no right! Go to another train,” Lea told the preacher. “Get off this train. Other people believe other things and have every right to believe other things on this planet and in this world. We do not have to be force-fed this man’s religious beliefs. Jesus never said for you to do this — ever!”

“Don’t come at me because I went to f**king Catholic school for 12 years and I know every line,” she added.

Um, maybe I’d take her seriously if she wasn’t wearing a racial t-shirt.

She may not like it, but he does have the right. He has just as much right to preach what he believes as she does to believe differently. Situations like this one make me sad. She might have felt like she was doing the right thing, standing up for a community, but all she’s doing is promoting more hate. Reacting in anger accomplishes nothing. If we all tried to understand each other more, imagine where we would be.

Some places have pre-arranged meeting places for acceptable public preaching, like the city square.

She’s wearing it because she’s Jewish now duh!

And she has every right to call the man out on being insensitive and crazy. Most of these “preachers” just spout hate in public places, some to get a rise out of people so they can in turn sue them if they harm them. This man was probably talking about people burning in Hell, I’ve come across one that looked me dead in the eyes and said I was going to burn in a hole, for absolutely no reason. So good for her for screaming at him. Had this been a Muslim man people would have been screaming and calling him a terrorist, but because he’s a Christian people think he’s in the right. But he’s not.

No one said he was IN the right, I said he HAD the right. Of course she has every right to call him out. I’m saying that all she did was promote more hate and division by responding in anger. That doesn’t get any of us anywhere.

Since when doesn’t he have the right? Are rights only for some people??
