'Supergirl' Greenlit For 2015-2016 Season By CBS

Get excited — Supergirl is headed to CBS!

It was just announced that the series, which stars Melissa Benoist, has been picked up by CBS for the upcoming 2015-2016 season (first reported by Variety).

Supergirl centers on Superman’s cousin, who was born on the planet Krypton and escaped amid its destruction years ago. After arriving on Earth, Kara was taken in by a foster family, the Danvers, who taught her to be careful with her extraordinary powers (which she shares with her famous cousin).

The show will also star Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, and David Harewood as Hank Henshaw aka Cyborg Superman.
