Cara Delevingne Covers 'Vogue': 'I Feel This Desire To Throw Away The Story I've Been Telling For Years'

Cara Delevingne shines bright on the cover of Vogue magazine’s July 2015 issue, hitting newsstands on Tuesday (June 23)!

Here’s what the 22-year-old model-turned-actress had to share with the mag:

On wanting to change things up: “I feel this desire to throw away the story I’ve been telling for years. Cheers—to a new story!”

On her early modeling days: “My agents told me what to do, and I did it. When I got in trouble, they told me off. It was a machine that I wasn’t controlling. It was like the disgusting way I felt inside was transposing itself on my skin. Somebody should have said stop.”

On leaving modeling for acting: “I admit I was terrified to leave. I mean, the bubble gives you a kind of dysfunctional family. When you’re in it, you get it. And the second you’re out of it, you’re like, What the hell just happened? The thrill of acting is making a character real. Modeling is the opposite of real. It’s being fake in front of the camera.”

Also pictured: Cara spotted in an all black ensemble leaving her London hotel with a friend while her Paper Towns co-star Nat Wolff was seen exiting a Strokes Concert held in Hyde Park with Suki Waterhouse on Thursday (June 18) in London, England.

earth to Cara.. you are a horrible actress.

  • Ifigeneia

Good on her for pursuing something she’s always wanted to do, but the tone of this interview conveys a certain ingratitude toward the profession that allowed her to attain her exposure, hype, experience in front of the camera , professional success and fans. She is one of my favorite models because of her undeniable charisma, but she’s been bitting the hand that fed her in her recent interviews and has had a certain ‘Fashion is beneath me, I am an actress now !’ attitude. smh

If it wasn’t for her modeling she wouldn’t be an actress. Her family’s power/wealth undoubtably helped. She is 5’7, without help it would have been harder to break in.

  • saphiry

I don’t find her pretty at all, but I do admit that she’s special. Her face doesn’t look like the faces of the other million models out there, and she seems to be nice, fun and down to earth.

  • Roger

    she’s an “actress” LMAO

  • Danae

It’s hard to judge her performance by just the movie trailer, but I am quite sceptical about her acting skills. She is very convincing as Margo, but she has admitted it herself that she shares A LOT with that character. It’s not acting, it’s more being yourself in front of the camera.

  • Frederick

she was terrible in the trailers

  • Sofia

    Nowadays ANYONE can act, apparently.

  • LaCroix

Her attitude towards the modeling industry just reflects how much of a spoiled brat she is..shows me & it should show all of you how she didn’t really work hard at anything in her life.. relied on her family’s money & connections to get into modeling & now acting. And her acting is one-dimentional just like her modeling career. I’d rather support actors that actually took time to learn the craft..

  • AeeJay

well said. Unreal how she thinks she can put down one profession for another. very unprofessional. What director would hire her?

  • LaCroix

She fills in the status quo of “pretty girl” .. Paper Towns was horrible, her accent was so bad..her acting makes Kristen Stewart seem like Meryl Streep..

  • Ifigeneia

I am fully aware of that. But I also think she’s one of the few models who did come from a priviledged background, but also had a certain ‘it factor’.As a fan of hers I find her choice of words very disappointing

  • Dory Phore

Better her than Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, although I am sure Vogue will give them their own covers soon.

  • Danae

I didn’t say she is good or bad. I said she’s convincing, which does not necessarily mean that her performance is stunning. In these trailers, she fools around and behaves just like I imagine Cara herself would do in reality. It works because she doesn’t act, she just happens to naturally act in a way similar to the character’s.

she is not a good actress. she is like kristen stewart, they never show any true emotion in front of the camera. she works better as a model.
and the only reason she got a modeling career is because her family connections. HER FATHER is millionaire, joan collins is her godmother and she is friends with the royal family.

She sounds like an idiot. And why is she bad mouthing the career that launched her into stardom? It’s sad that millions of people (not just young girls but even girls in their late 20′s) look up to her!

  • mouth

She will do anything for attention. And I don’t get why she is a model, she is cute but not that pretty. But if Suki can be a model these days anyone can. She comes across like a whiner and is newly gay because it’s trendy. Fake!

  • Casey C

So…the people who hired her told her what to do and expected her to do it, and if she screwed up she got in trouble….oh my god, it’s almost like its every. other. job. ever. what a spoilt brat
