Macklemore Calls Out Iggy Azalea on 'White Privilege,' She Responds to Diss

Macklemore just released a new song called “White Privilege II” in which he disses Iggy Azalea and Miley Cyrus for appropriating black culture, and now the rapper is responding.

“You’ve exploited and stolen the music, the moment,” Macklmore raps on the new song. “The magic, the passion, the fashion, you toy with / The culture was never yours to make better.”

“You’re Miley, you’re Elvis, you’re Iggy Azalea. Fake and so plastic, you’ve heisted the magic/ You’ve taken the drums and the accent you rapped in/ You’re branded ‘hip-hop,’ it’s so fascist and backwards,” he continues.

Iggy took to her Twitter account to respond to a fan who asked if she had heard the song.

“he shouldnt have spent the last 3 yrs having friendly convos and taking pictures together at events etc if those were his feelings,” Iggy said.

    But why Elvis? :O

  • nadie234

Because black people also claim Elvis stole their music. smh

  • Juan S. Camargo Visbal

Aren’t Macklemore & Ryan Lewis doing the exact same thing?

  • Lola

Rock and roll is a type of music created by black people, Elvis was young, hot and white, plus he had a nice voice, deep enough to carry music made by/for black people, so the industry sold him as the king of rock and roll.

  • Jess

You clearly don’t know about the history of “Rock & Roll” because they are not just claims, it’s accepted as fact that it was born from the R&B movement of the 30s-40s, made by and aimed towards black people. SMH

  • Lola

but they “”acknowledge”" their privilege, so it’s all good, or, ya know, pot calling kettle black

  • Jay

Elvis stole most of his music. It was a racist time, black artists recorded songs and his producers would just steal the song, sometimes they weren’t even paid. They never denied it, in fact there a few flippant comments from him about it. I repeat, it was a racist time.
Black music sells but not attached to black acts.

  • A.P. Millz-CT

B/C Elvis stole other black artist’s music! He would go to underground black clubs and steal their songs and dance moves.. There were many, many songs Elvis stole from different black artists

  • A.P. Millz-CT

    B/C he did stupid!

  • nadie234

Just like black people appropriate white culture also stupid.

  • A.P. Millz-CT

Bahahahahahahaaa You people have no culture.

  • nadie234

I know it probably better than you. I know R&B & gospel like Elvis did started with the black culture. I’m sick to death though of every single time I open the internet now all I’m seeing is racism on both the sides of whites and blacks. Black people hate white people just as much, if not more, than white people hate black people. I am Native American and y’all stole my country but I don’t bitch about that every day of my life. We are all AMERICANS and should be able to share and get along but I guess that will never happen.

  • Allure

i really don’t care for Iggy as she is racist and has openly posted racist things on her twitter, however macklemore are doing the same thing. Also, to have the nerve to act all friendly with someone then call them out like that is a low blow!

Another point is that everybody “copies” everybody, i call it influence. Music , especially, is not owned by anybody or any group of people, for that we’d have to go back to the stone age and even before that probably.

  • nadie234

I’m Native American and yes we do.

  • A.P. Millz-CT

Well, of course the Natives do. LOL

  • A.P. Millz-CT

You know what’s funny, how you being Native American would sit there and try and down black people. LOL After these people damn near exterminated your people. Wow.. You just can’t make this type of $h!t up.

  • nadie234

Honey I am not downing black people. I’m sick to death of everyone. Look at my comment further down. It’s the racism going on especially between whites and blacks that is getting sickening. We’re all, in the end, AMERICANS.

  • A.P. Millz-CT

    Indeed.

  • Anastatia Bagans

Being apart of the rap industry equates to stealing black culture? LMAO rap isn’t black culture. It’s a f*cking music genre ya morons run by white people. Get a grip. Iggy doesn’t owe anybody a damn thing.

  • Anastatia Bagans

So your saying the natives should live like a bunch of bitter whiny c*nts like your people do? Newsflash: yall culture is consisted of ignorant rap music and thuggery.

  • Jess

Yeah, but you can’t control how people react to injustice. That’s great that you as a Native American were able to “get over it” but not everyone else has.

Of course it would be great if we could all get along but if you just look at all the comments that get posted on this site you will see that racism is far from being a thing of that past.

  • A.P. Millz-CT

    I don’t speak wh0r3.

But, if our music and culture is considered all that, then why steal it?? Girl, go sit your lame asssss in the corner some damn where.

  • Anastatia Bagans

    whos stealing your crap? 😂

  • A.P. Millz-CT

You have nothing of value to bring to this conversation. You’re dismissed.

  • Anastatia Bagans

    Just like your culture lmfao

  • Anastatia Bagans

LMFAOOOOOOOOO your people weren’t even here thousands of years ago. Your race have accomplished sh*t

  • A.P. Millz-CT

Right… LOL… I’m not going to do this with a keyboard gangster. I know first hand if you were in front of me you wouldn’t even be saying these things :) Now, My parents own multiple businesses in Connecticut :) I graduated college and own my own home and do quite well for myself. So, I would say………… We accomplished a great deal.

    Have a great weekend.

  • Anastatia Bagans

You’re contradicting yourself. You’re trying to act like you’re so sophisticated with your made up story and then act like a typical Puerto Rican the next lmfao. Make up your mind. Your people have done sh*t for the world. Thank white people.

  • Lola
