Prince's Cause of Death Investigation Does Not Involve DEA At This Time, Official Says

Lots of speculation has been spreading about how Prince died, with drug use rumors circulating, but an official with the Carver County Sheriff’s office is clearing up some information in a new statement.

“The DEA is not part of this investigation at this time,” sheriff’s office spokesperson Jason Kamured told THR. He also added there were “no obvious signs of trauma” and they have “no reason to believe at this point that this was a suicide.”

In addition, the coroner’s office told the publication that reports right now are based on speculation at this point.

NBC News reported on Wednesday (April 27) that Prince was found with prescription painkillers and that officials had asked the DEA for help.

No official word on Prince‘s cause of death has been released.
