Kirsten Dunst To Direct 'The Bell Jar' Starring Dakota Fanning

Kirsten Dunst is heading behind the camera for The Bell Jar movie adaption, Deadline reports.

The 34-year-old actress co-wrote the script with Nellie Kim, based on the 1963 novel by Sylvia Plath.

Dakota Fanning will star as Esther Greenwood in the flick, which made a big impact in the 1960s after it was published.

The book is set in the 1950s and follows Esther, who takes an internship at a magazine in New York City and, after she returns home to Boston, begins to suffer from mental illness.
