Taraji P. Henson Says A Role Written For Her Was Given To Naomi Watts
Taraji P. Henson is all smiles while attending a book signing for her memoir Around the Way Girl on Friday (October 15) at Barnes & Noble in New York City.
In the book, the 46-year-old Empire actress opens up about her struggles in Hollywood, including the time a role written for her was recast.

Taraji says a part in the 2014 film St. Vincent was written specifically for her but ended up going to Naomi Watts.
While she praised writer-director, Theodore Melfi, for being able to see her “outside the box – a black woman playing the gritty girlfriend of a grumpy white man,” she adds that it was an example of how the studio “couldn’t see black women beyond a very limited purview.”
