Kelly Osbourne Reveals Why She Kept Her Mystery Illness a Secret

Kelly Osbourne is opening up about all of her health scares, including an epilepsy diagnosis and her Lyme Disease.

“I didn’t even know, because of my past, it made me look like the boy who cried wolf and my parents and my family and my friends always call it my traveling pain. And then one day I had a seizure while I was filming Fashion Police. And I had a three-and-a-half minute grand mal seizure. Through all the testing that they did in the hospital, they found that I had scarring on my brain, so they assumed that I had been having more seizures and not knowing. And they told me that, don’t worry, everybody in this world at one point in their life has a seizure and they don’t know,” Kelly explained, “I don’t know how true that is. And they diagnosed me with epilepsy. They put me on brain tranquilizers, a medication called keppra, and I would only have about two hours of lifetime a day. I had my driver’s license taken away and… And I was, like, this is awful and then I had a side effect, so they gave me medication for that side effect, and that gave me aside effect, so they gave me a medication for that side effect. I had this bag of pills that was so big and one day I was just, like, I can’t do this anymore. And I took it to my mom and I said, mom, you know, I’ve never been one to say no to a pill, but I can’t do this. There’s no way.”

Kelly also revealed why she hid her Lyme Disease for so long.

“Because people would–thought my behavior was–they blamed it on my past, like, drug usage. Like, they thought that, oh, she’s just doing drugs again, oh, she’s relapsed or she’s doing this or that. And nobody believed me. So I was a bit nervous. And until I was informed enough about it and then seeing so many people suffer from it and knowing–meeting other people that also had it, you really start to realize how huge of a problem this is. And there’s not enough information out there about it for people and there’s so many people suffering from it,” she added.
