'Girlboss' Canceled By Netflix After Season One

Netflix has decided to cancel its series Girlboss after just one season, Variety reports.

The 13-episode show, which premiered on April 21, starred Britt Robertson and Ellie Reed. It was based on Sophia Amoruso’s popular autobiography.

Sophia reportedly shared the news in her Instagram story on Saturday (June 24).

“So that Netflix series about my life got canceled,” she wrote. “While I’m proud of the work we did, I’m looking forward to controlling my narrative from here on out. It was a good show, and I was privileged to work with incredible talent, but living my life as a caricature was hard even if only for two months. Yes, I can be difficult. No, I’m not a dick. No, someone named Shane never cheated on me. It will be nice to someday tell the story of what’s happened in the last few years. Ppl read the headline, not the correction, I’ve learned.”

“We’re creating a show in which the lead is maybe unlikeable,” writer and executive producer Kay Cannon, has previously said.

The decision follows the recent cancellations of Netflix’s short-lived series The Get Down and Sense8.

Damn Britt can’t catch a break.

The lead character is so unlikable so I’m not surprised by the cancelation. This show was so bad. I struggled to finish it.

Netflix is finished . They produce garbage like this and Chelsea Handler rubbish nobody wants to see. Too bad.

Remember when Netflix used to have really good movies and series?

    so sad

  • Casey C

having an unlikeable lead isn’t necessarily a death knell – but when every single character is unlikeable, when they just feel so contrived and arrogant, with bad dialogue and ridiculous set-ups, i could barely get through a handful of eps. surprised it was made at all, tbh

  • Cooper

I agree. The show was frustrating to watch and I couldn’t stomach more than 3 episodes because of the main character.

  • Anna

Britt Robertson is a horrible actress. I don’t understand how she’s continually getting work. There’s a reason all her projects get canceled.

  • Max

she is great. what are you an acting coach? get a job, stop posting shit nobody wants to read girl.

  • FerCat

She’s kinda like Jennifer Lawrence but without the hot bits.

  • gershwin K

You don’t have to be an acting coach to judge an actor ! So I can’t judge a book if I’m not a writer ? I can’t express an opinion about a film if I’m not a director ? That’s weird…

britt robertson can’t catch a break lmao literally every show she’s lead in gets cancelled so soon

Sofia Amoruso, itself is an unlikable person. Sure I give her kudus for starting an empire at such a young age, that’s not an easy task, but to call her a nice, likable person… NO. All you had to do is read Glassdoor reviews to foresee that the company was going to eventually doom. If you don’t take care of your employees, chances are your business will not progress.
