Thor: Ragnarok

We are getting utterly spoiled with the amount of Marvel movies coming out these days. While Black Panther is still crushing it in the theaters, we now have the opportunity to enjoy Thor: Ragnarok as it hits shelves today.

Reprising his role as the titular god, Chris Hemsworth, is back in this surprisingly hilarious addition to the Thor trilogy. Ragnorak is beaming a star-studded cast including Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Jeff Goldblum, and Cate Blanchett.

This time around, Thor seeks out answers to a vision that his home planet will be destroyed in a prophecy known as the ‘Ragnarok’. Along the way, him and his brother, Loki, meet a long lost sister, Hela, who was banished by her father, Odin, for her brutality and penchant desire to rule all kingdoms. The brothers get sidetracked as they land themselves in a battle royale called the “Contest of Champions” where Thor is forced to battle none other than Hulk as he fights to get back to save his home world of Asgard. Meanwhile, the Asgardian goddess Hela awaits them as she establishes her brutal rule over Asgard.

If you’ve watched the other Thor films, you’ll notice this one is remarkably different. Written by Christopher Yost, Craig Kyle, and Eric Pearson, this installment is filled with humor and we see a side of Thor we haven’t seen before making this movie one of the highest rated Marvel movies of all time. If you enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy, you’ll love this one.

The Blu-Ray treatment is fantastic. Highly detailed with vibrant color, this transfer really shines. The audio is presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless soundtrack and pairs nicely with the video.

Extra features include deleted scene, a discussion on the history of Thor, a spotlight on the women of the film, and a hilarious Gag Reel. Also continuing the Thor roommate series, we’re treated with a short called “Team Darryl” where the Grandmaster becomes Darryl’s new roommate.

Thor:Ragnarok is what a popcorn movie should be. It’s a hilarious and enjoyable ride from start to finish. This one is a must-have in anyone’s collection.
