Chrissy Metz On Performing at ACM Awards 2019 with Carrie Underwood: 'Really Special'

The This Is Us star opened up about hitting the stage alongside Carrie Underwood at the 2019 Academy of Country Music Awards for a performance of “I’m Standing With You” from the soundtrack for her movie Breakthrough.

“It was super cool and not just because it’s an incredible story that inspired the song to be written, but [with] these incredible artists who I’ve loved for a long time,” Chrissy told GMA. “I don’t know what it is, but everyone in the country world, everyone’s so supportive and so encouraging. It was really, really special.”

Chrissy also dished about playing a mom whose child has a terrible accident and is given very little chance of survival in the film: “You’ve got to find some levity because you’re literally crying most of the time, which I don’t mind doing — we all know that,” Metz said. “It’s very cathartic.”
