Here's How Queen Elizabeth's Trooping the Colour Was Different Due to Coronavirus - See Photos
Queen Elizabeth‘s birthday is celebrated every year with the Trooping the Colour ceremony, but 2020′s event was much different due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The royal monarch’s 94th birthday was back in April and the official ceremony was held on Saturday (June 13) at Windsor Castle in Windsor, England.
The Queen usually participates in a military parade and then the royal family gathers on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch a flypast, but the event was scaled back due to the pandemic.
This year, the Queen stood in the quadrangle at Windsor Castle and watched a scaled-back band serenade her during the turning out ceremony. The soldiers would normally be shoulder-to-shoulder during the ceremony, but they stood six feet apart to adhere to social distancing measures.
The Trooping the Colour ceremony marked the first time that Queen Elizabeth has attended an outdoor event since the lockdown began.
Last year, Kate Middleton and Prince William brought all three of their kids to the event and Meghan Markle made her first post-baby appearance at the event.
FYI: The Queen is wearing a Stewart Parvin outfit and a Rachel Trevor-Morgan hat.
