Tom Hanks Did This To Help 'News Of The World' Co-Star Perform

Tom Hanks‘ young co-star in News of The World is opening up about working with the iconic actor in the new movie, and how he helped her with her role for the flick.

Helena Zengel stars as Johanna in the big screen adaption of Paul Greengrass‘s novel of the same name.

In a recent press interview, Helena revealed that to help her stay in her emotions and in character, Tom would continue to cry off screen in certain scenes.

“He was literally crying in every scene, even when it wasn’t shot on him — it was my close-up,” she shared. “He cried in every scene that I should get emotional…”

Helena added, “Doing it again and again for your partner when you don’t even see yourself in the movie was really amazing and great.”

Here’s the official summary of News Of The World: Five years after the end of the Civil War, Capt. Jefferson Kyle Kidd crosses paths with a 10-year-old girl taken by the Kiowa people. Forced to return to her aunt and uncle, Kidd agrees to escort the child across the harsh and unforgiving plains of Texas. However, the long journey soon turns into a fight for survival as the traveling companions encounter danger at every turn — both human and natural.

News Of The World is out in select theaters on Christmas Day, December 25.

If you haven’t seen, Tom just recently opened up about the COVID-19 vaccines.
