Debra Messing has landed a role in the upcoming film adaptation of the Broadway show 13: The Musical.
The Emmy-winning actress will be playing the mom of lead character Evan Goldman.
Deadline reports that the story follows “12-year old Evan Goldman. He moves from NYC to small-town Indiana where he grapples with his parents’ divorce, prepares for his impending Bar Mitzvah, and navigates the complicated social circles of a new school.”
Three-time Tony winner Jason Robert Brown wrote the score for the Broadway show and he’s also composing new music for the film.
On Broadway, The Good Wife actor Graham Phillips played the role of Evan and the show also launched the careers of Ariana Grande and Elizabeth Gillies.
