Grace VanderWaal Opens Up About Life After 'America's Got Talent'

Grace VanderWaal is on the cover of Teen Vogue‘s 2018 Music Issue, out now.

Here’s what the 14-year-old America’s Got Talent winner had to say…

On staying true to oneself: “I think everyone’s just trying to be someone else nowadays. The world is so big and there’s so many people and there’s only one you, and that’s so special and unique to think about.”

On adapting to her post-America’s Got Talent life and defining her goals: “At first it was so overwhelming and I had no idea what to do, and now I feel so much better about my life, because, number one, I feel more headstrong about what I want.”

On those who still refer to her as “the girl from America’s Got Talent”: “I mean, if you will forever remember me as the girl from America’s Got Talent, that’s cool, ’cause I am. If you wanna look into me and what I’ve done recently, that’s cool, too. I don’t really care at all, [because] at least you remember me and you’re thinking about me.”
