Hairspray's Nikki Blonsky Lip Syncs to Herself for TikTok's Baltimore Challenge - Watch Now!

Nikki Blonsky played the role of Tracy Turnblad in the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical Hairspray and she’s giving us a throwback with this new video!

The 31-year-old actress got on the hood of a truck and filmed a video for the “Baltimore Challenge” on TikTok, in which people are lip syncing to her version of the musical’s opening number “Good Morning Baltimore.”

In the movie, she filmed a portion of the song on the top of a garbage truck.

Nikki was recently asked if she has a favorite song from the movie.

“Yes and no because they’re all magical, and they all have different meanings to me, you know? I can’t help but think about the time when I filmed it — that’s what popped into my head — so for me the most magical scene for me to film was on top of the garbage truck (during ‘Good Morning Baltimore’),” Nikki told The Post Athens. “That or coming down in the rocket (during ‘You Can’t Stop The Beat’). But ‘I Can Hear The Bells’ is so iconic, too. One of my favorite dances, though, definitely ‘Ladies’ Choice’ but also ‘Welcome to the 60’s’ with John, because that was just so fun to be out there at 3 o’clock in the morning and just performing with an idol of mine.”

There recently was a pretty amazing Hairspray reunion that you have to check out!

Hairspray's Broadway & Movie Stars Unite for 'You Can't Stop the Beat' Performance from Home! (Video)

The many stars of Hairspray are coming together for a performance of the musical’s finale number “You Can’t Stop the Beat,” which everyone filmed at home!

The casts of the two movie versions, the NBC live version, and the several stage productions united for the performance thanks to composer Marc Shaiman.

Included in the video are many Tracy Turnblads – Ricki Lake, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Nikki Blonsky, and Maddie Bailio, among others – as well as stars like Kristin Chenoweth, Matthew Morrison, Derek Hough, Andrew Rannells, Sean Hayes, Harvey Fierstein, Martin Short, Garrett Clayton, and more.

The video was made in hopes of raising money for The Actors Fund and the organization’s mission of helping those in need during the pandemic.

Earlier this year, Ricki decided to shave her head and reveal a secret she had been hiding.
