The movie, directed by Roland Emmerich, tells the story of a fictional young man caught up during the 1969 Stonewall riots. Danny Winters (Irvine) is forced to leave behind friends and loved ones when he is kicked out of his parent’s home and flees to New York. Alone in Greenwich Village, homeless and destitute, he befriends a group of street kids who soon introduce him to the local watering hole The Stonewall Inn; however, this shady, mafia-run club is far from a safe-haven.
As Danny and his friends experience discrimination, endure atrocities and are repeatedly harassed by the police, we see a rage begin to build. This emotion runs through Danny and the entire community of young gays, lesbians and drag queens who populate the Stonewall Inn and erupts in a storm of anger. With the toss of a single brick, a riot ensues and a crusade for equality is born.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers and his fiancée Mara Lane make a quick exit after the press night performance of Dear Lupin held at The Apollo Theatre on Monday (August 3) in London, England.
The 38-year-old actor’s upcoming film Damascus Cover reportedly won’t be a casualty of Relativity Media’s decision to file for Chapter 11, Variety reports, via a statement from the sales company Carnaby International.
“As an official representative of the film, I can confirm that there are no contractual commitments in place between these two parties and the film is still in pre-sale negotiations with buyers worldwide,” sales company Carnaby’s press representative Hayley Hamburg said in a statement.
This is the first time the 37-year-old actor has been spotted out since his “minor relapse” last month. Jonathan, who has been to rehab three times for substance abuse, was photographed taking swigs from an alcohol bottle. Jonathan released a statement about the incident and apologized to his fans.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers has released a statement after being photographed taking swigs from a vodka bottle in London earlier this month.
The 37-year-old actor, who has been to rehab three times for issues with substance abuse, sent his fans a message on fiancée Mara Lane‘s Instagram account.
“Mara and I are thankful for your support and kindness during this time. I apologize for having a minor relapse and hope that people don’t think too badly of me. I stopped drinking immediately and it is no reflection on Damascus Cover as I was not meant to attend Cannes this year and I apologize to fans and colleagues,” he wrote. “I am on the mend and thank well wishers and sorry for my disheveled appearance as I was on my way home from a friends and had not changed I feel I made a mistake and feel quite embarrassed but this was just a blip in my recovery otherwise I’m living a healthy life.
