'Barbie' Producer LuckyChap to Make Stage Debut by Producing 'Titanique' Creator Marla Mindelle's New Musical!

Barbie producer LuckyChap is getting into the musical business!

Margot Robbie‘s production company will be producing their first-ever stage musical in New York.

The Big Gay Jamboree is the new musical from Titanique creator Marla Mindelle. She co-wrote the book with Jonathan Parks-Ramage and co-wrote the music and lyrics with Philip Drennen.

The new show, billed as a “comedy trapped inside a musical,” centers on Stacey (Mindelle), who after blacking out from 18 Jägerbombs, wakes up hungover in the most terrifying place of all: an Off-Broadway musical. With no memory of how she got there, Stacey is forced to put her BFA in theater to use, belt her face off, and figure out how the hell she’s gonna escape this 1940′s golden age musical…while a live audience watches.

LuckyChap commented, “We’ve been admiring Marla Mindelle’s work for quite some time and our adoration only grew when we were blown away by Titaníque. We knew that we wanted to be a part of bringing Marla’s The Big Gay Jamboree to the stage. We’ve been wanting to find a way into the theatre space and couldn’t be more thrilled for this to be our first foray alongside the incredible team involved.”

Performances begin on September 14, with an opening night set for October 1, at the Orpheum Theatre in New York City. Tickets are on sale now at BigGayJamboreeTheMusical.com.

Off-Broadway Musical 'Titanique,' Featuring Celine Dion's Music, Extends Due to Ticket Demand!

The Off-Broadway musical Titanique was scheduled to end its limited run in September, but it was just extended through November!

The musical is billed as an “irresistibly funny and irreverent new musical send-up of the blockbuster film Titanic, featuring the songs of pop icon Celine Dion.”

Marla Mindelle, who co-wrote the show with co-star Constantine Rousouli and director Tye Blue, plays the role of Celine in the fan-fave musical.

Here is the synopsis: “Want to find out what really happened to Jack and Rose on that fateful night? Just leave it to Céline Dion to casually hijack a Titanic Museum tour and enchant the audience with her totally wild take, recharting the course of Titanic’s beloved moments and characters with her iconic song catalog.”

Producer Eva Price said, “The news has been rough, this summer has been hot…and clearly, escaping with Celine Dion & the brilliant company of Titanique to the basement of a Gristedes is the salve folks need right now. It’s been a show of dreams for all of us, and we’re so thrilled it’ll remain buoyant for six more weeks at the Asylum!”

The cast also includes Frankie Grande, Kathy Deitch, Ryan Duncan, Alexis Ellis, Jaye Alexander, and John Riddle, who leaves the cast on August 23.
