Rachel Lindsay joins Miss America Savvy Shields on stage at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards held at the T-Mobile Arena on Sunday (May 21) in Las Vegas.

The ladies presented the award for Top Country Song to Florida Georgia Line.

“America and country music go together like the perfect romance. You can’t imagine one without the other,” Savvy said during the speech.

The winner of the 2017 Miss America pageant was announced during the live event held on Sunday night (September 11) at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

The top seven ladies were announced near the end of the show and all of the women had to answer a question about current events. The pageant is held at the end of 2016 so that the winner can serve the following year.

The questions ranged from the presidential candidates to immigration issues to Colin Kaepernick‘s decision to sit down during the National Anthem.

Ultimately, Miss Arkansas Savvy Shields was crowned the winner by the panel of seven celebrity judges. The University of Arkansas student performed a dance routine to a song from Smash as her talent.
