Torrin Lawrence, a gold medal-winning USA track star, has died at age 25 after his car was hit by a tractor trailer, according to TMZ.
The athlete was driving in Georgia on Monday morning (July 28) at around 1:40am when he got a flat tire and his car came to a stop.
Torrin got out of the vehicle to call 911, but a truck came down the road and struck his car, which then hit the runner as he stood nearby.
“Torrin represented USATF with pride and passion, and had an incredible future ahead of him. We join those who will miss him deeply,” USA Track & Field CEO Max Siegel said in a statement.
