Showtime TCA: 'The Affair' Renewed, 'Twin Peaks' Gets Premiere Date

Showtime is currently having their TCA Panel and announcing some exciting news!

First, The Affair, starring Maura Tierney, Ruth Wilson, Dominic West, Joshua Jackson, and Catalina Sandino Moreno, has been renewed for season four!

The season three finale hasn’t even aired yet – mark your calendars for January 29!

Next, the Twin Peaks reboot finally has a debut date! The show will debut Sunday, May 21 at 9 p.m. with a two-hour premiere episode, Variety reports. There will be 18 episodes total, and there are no future seasons of the series planned.

The reboot is being billed as “the pure heroin version of David Lynch.”

Showtime Announces 'Twin Peaks' Revival's 217 Cast Members

A list of the 217 actors featured in the Twin Peaks revival series airing on Showtime next year has been revealed!

The only previously confirmed star was the original series’ Kyle MacLachlan and now it has been revealed that original stars David Duchovny, Sheryl Lee, Sherilyn Fenn, Mädchen Amick, Michael Horse, Dana Ashbrook, Miguel Ferrer, Ray Wise, Grace Zabriskie, Peggy Lipton, Everett McGill and David Lynch will return.

Some of the notable names added to the lineup include Amanda Seyfried, Naomi Watts, Ashley Judd, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Laura Dern, Jane Levy, Jessica Szohr, and many more.

Principal photography on the series has ended and David Lynch is directing every single episode. You can catch it on Showtime in 2017.

Showtime Debuts First Teaser Trailer for 'Twin Peaks' Reboot

Check out this first official teaser for the highly-anticipated Showtime reboot of Twin Peaks!

In case you’re unfamiliar, the original followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered.

The town’s sheriff welcomed the help of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who came to town to investigate the case.

As Cooper conducted his search for Laura’s killer, the town’s secrets were gradually exposed.

The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence.

The limited series will premiere in 2017.

David Lynch Exits 'Twin Peaks' Reboot, Showtime Releases Additional Statement

Twin Peaks creator David Lynch has announced he has dropped out of Showtime’s revival of the cult favorite television show.

“Dear Facebook Friends, Showtime did not pull the plug on Twin Peaks. After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done. This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing. Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime. I love the world of Twin Peaks and wish things could have worked out differently,” David posted to his Facebook earlier today.

“We were saddened to read David Lynch‘s statement today since we believed we were working towards solutions with David and his reps on the few remaining deal points,” Showtime said in the statement (via Variety). “Showtime also loves the world of ‘Twin Peaks’ and we continue to hold out hope that we can bring it back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm.”

Kyle MacLachlan to Reprise Role of Agent Dale Cooper in 'Twin Peaks' Reboot!

Amazing news for Twin Peaks fans – original star of the show Kyle MacLachlan is set to reprise his role of FBI Agent Dale Cooper in Showtime’s reboot of the cult classic series from the 90s!

“I’m very excited to return to the strange and wonderful world of Twin Peaks,” the 55-year-old actor said at the Showtime TCA. “May the forest be with you.”

“From what I’ve seen, I think this going to live up to expectations�”and then some,” Showtime president David Nevins added.

Twin Peaks is set to debut in 2016 on Showtime – in the meantime, you can stream the original Twin Peaks on Netflix if you haven’t seen it!

'Twin Peaks' Returning to Television on Showtime in 2016!

Here is some super cool television news to start the week – Twin Peaks will be getting revived by Showtime with a nine-episode season set to air in 2016!

The short-lived series followed an idiosyncratic FBI Agent who investigates the murder of a young woman in the even more idiosyncratic town of Twin Peaks.

The new season will be a continuation of the cult favorite series. It will be set in the present day and continue storylines established in season two.

There is no word yet on casting, but the series originally starred Kyle MachLachlan, Lara Flynn Boyle, and more. The new series will most likely bow in early 2016 to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the show’s ending.
