New 'Alien' Film in Development, Neill Blomkamp to Direct!

This is an awesome bit of news – 20th Century Fox has reportedly just signed a deal with director Neill Blomkamp to create a new Alien film!

If you aren’t familiar, the franchise began back in 1979 with Sigourney Weaver as the starring vehicle in Ridley Scott‘s supernatural horror film.

Numerous Alien films have been released since then, featuring the distinctive frightening main villain. The 2012 film Prometheus starring Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron is also supposed to be a prequel to the franchise.

Neil later confirmed the news on his Instagram, writing, “Um… So I think it’s officially my next film. #alien”
