'Tomorrowland' Wins the Memorial Day Weekend Box Office

George Clooney and Britt Robertson‘s new film Tomorrowland narrowly won the competition at the box office over Memorial Day weekend.

The new Disney movie is estimated to have made $32.2 million for its three-day debut and it is on track to a $40.7 million four-day weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Anna Kendrick‘s Pitch Perfect 2 put in another strong weekend with $30.3 million in its second frame. It will earn a projected $37.9 million over the four-day holiday weekend.

Rounding out the top five for the three-day weekend were Tom Hardy‘s Mad Max: Fury Road with $23.8 million, the new horror remake Poltergeist with $23 million, and the star-studded superhero flick The Avengers: Age of Ultron with $20.8 million.
