Mya Taylor Is First Transgender Actress to Win Spirit Award - Watch Her Acceptance Speech Now!

Mya Taylor made history by becoming the first ever transgender actress to win a Spirit Award at the 2016 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday afternoon (February 27) in Santa Monica, Calif.

The 24-year-old actress was honored with the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Tangerine.

“There is transgender talent,” Mya said in her acceptance speech at the ceremony. “There’s very beautiful transgender talent. So, you better get it out there and put it in your next movie.”
