Former VP Joe Biden is Continuing His Fight to End Cancer

Reese Witherspoon is all smiles as she speaks on stage during the Milken Institute Global Conference on Wednesday (May 3) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 41-year-old Big Little Lies actress was joined by former Vice President Joe Biden where he shared that he is continuing his global cancer research initiative.

“People came to me and asked if I would continue the moonshot because it had not been picked up by the new administration,” Biden said via the LA Times. “So I’m doing that…. In this fight, we have to be unwilling to postpone.”

Biden‘s initiative was inspired by the death of his son Beau – who died from brain cancer back in 2015 – and is urging cancer researchers and drug companies to find better treatments and eventually a cure for cancer.

The former vice president also shared that he will be running the initiative out of his private Biden Foundation instead of using the federal government.
