Frances McDormand Wins Best Actress at Oscars 2018, Recognizes All Female Nominees! (Video)
Frances McDormand accepts the award for Best Actress on stage at the 2018 Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (March 4) in Hollywood.
The actress picked up the award for her work in the movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, marking her second win in the category.
Frances beat out I, Tonya‘s Margot Robbie, The Shape of Water‘s Sally Hawkins, Lady Bird‘s Saoirse Ronan, and The Post‘s Meryl Streep for the award.
During her speech, Frances took a moment to recognize all of the female nominees at the Oscars in every category and asked them all to stand up!
She ended the speech by saying, “I have two words for you: Inclusion rider.” If you’re not familiar, here’s what Whitney Cummings said on Twitter: “An inclusion rider is something actors put into their contracts to ensure gender and racial equality in hiring on movie sets. We should support this for a billion reasons, but if you can’t find a reason to, here’s one: it will make movies better.”
