Mark Ronson Talks Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, & His New Girlfriend
Mark Ronson takes a seat on the cover of WSJ. Magazine‘s March Men’s Style Issue, on newsstands today!
Here’s what the 43-year-old musician had to share with the mag:
On his relationship with his new girlfriend, which he confirmed while putting on a Supreme varsity jacket that belongs to her: “Yeah, I am in a relationship. It’s good. I’m dating a nice girl.”
On co-writing “Shallow” with Lady Gaga while producing her album Joanne: “We were all going through relationship s–t.” (Gaga had just ended things with her then-fiance, Taylor Kinney, and Mark’s marriage with Josephine de La Baume was foundering.) “Everybody was willing to bring their troubles to that song. [The process was] like therapy, even though there’s so much hurt in this song.”
On his collaboration with Miley Cyrus, “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart,” which took four years to make happen: “[Miley was like a] a whirling dervish [in the recording studio]. I knew the minute she sang it, this is gonna be pretty special.”
Miley on working with Mark: “Seeing the way that he works, I was immediately addicted to the process. He’s such a listener that you instantly feel he’s present. Then, he’d come back the next day with music, this sonic dream that somehow says all that you spit at him.”
