Halle Bailey, Not Halle Berry, Is Playing Ariel - See All the Confusion!
Guys, it’s Halle BAILEY, not Halle BERRY, who is playing Ariel in Disney’s upcoming live-action The Little Mermaid.
Fans have been confusing the 19-year-old Grown‑ish star and the 52-year-old John Wick: Chapter 3 actress while hearing reports of this casting news (we’re totally guilty as well).
Halle Bailey was not named after actress Halle Berry, if you’re wondering. Her parents actually wanted to name her “Hailey,” but “Hailey Bailey sounded weird,” Halle Bailey told Houston Chronicle.
“I read this tweet like 5 times trying to figure out how they were going to pull off Halle Berry as a 16-year-old,” one Twitter user wrote.

I read that as Halle Berry for some reason. I thought "A little surprising, but I think I'm down for that." This makes more sense, and I'm just as down.

I can't be the only person who saw news that "Halle Bailey is The Little Mermaid" and got very confused because my mind misspelled her last name to make it read "Halle Berry is The Little Mermaid," right?
