Robert Downey Jr. Responds to Martin Scorsese's Criticism of Marvel Movies as 'Not Cinema'

Robert Downey, Jr. is responding to director Martin Scorsese‘s criticism of the Marvel films as “not cinema.”

If you don’t know, Martin said the following quote in an interview: “I don’t see them. I tried, you know? But that’s not cinema. Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”

Robert, who starred as Iron Man in the Marvel Universe, did not seem that upset by the comments and tried to remain magnanimous.

“I appreciate his opinion…we need all the different perspectives so we can come to center and move on,” Robert said.

Howard then asked Robert if he was insulted.

“I mean look, it’d be like saying Howard Stern isn’t radio. It makes no sense to say it,” Robert added.
