HBO Max Will Bring Back 'Gone With The Wind' With a Special Introduction

Gone With The Wind will be back on HBO Max, with a few changes.

The movie, which caused a stir after fans picked up on problematic depictions of slavery and the Civil War-era South, was pulled from the streaming service over the weekend.

Director John Ridley wrote a feature for the LA Times, calling attention to the movie for its’ racist themes.

HBO Max is planning to re-release the movie with a special introduction by black scholar and television host Jacqueline Stewart.

Jacqueline, who hosts Silent Sunday Nights on TCM, wrote a letter about her introduction for the iconic 1939 movie.

“For me, this is an opportunity to think about what classic films can teach us,” she wrote for CNN. “Right now, people are turning to movies for racial re-education, and the top-selling books on Amazon are about anti-racism and racial inequality. If people are really doing their homework, we may be poised to have our most informed, honest, and productive national conversations yet about Black lives on screen and off.”

There is no set date for when the movie will be back on the service.

If you didn’t see, this anchor found it ridiculous that the streaming service pulled the movie at all.
