'Succession' Actor Nicholas Braun Drops Quarantine Punk Song 'Antibodies'

Nicholas Braun has had quite the week so far – first he was nominated for his very first Emmy Award, and then he dropped his debut single!

The 32-year-old Succession star chatted with Zane Lowe on Apple Music about the track, saying that in order for him to share his music, it couldn’t be just a joke song.

“It can’t just be super funny or to get people’s attention because it’s about antibodies and everybody’s saying that word right now,” Nicholas shared. “We have to make it a really good song and listenable and fun and put it on the radio or else we don’t put it out.”

He added that the song was born from “quarantine”. He was in Los Angeles under lockdown in a house full of his friends.

“They were doing a full lockdown deal and they were like, ‘You should be really careful about going out and talking to people.’ And I said, ‘I might go on a date,’ and they were like … ‘Don’t do that. Don’t do that. Don’t be near a person.’ So I was in this two week quarantine away from even my friends in this house and I think my brain just started turning like, what would make this okay? Or what would allow me to go on a social distance walk with somebody? And maybe it’s the antibodies,” he said.

Nicholas does have more musical ambitions following “Antibodies”.

“It’s been a dream of my whole life. I mean, I’ve been singing as long as I can remember. I loved being in choir in first grade. I mean, I was obsessed with learning songs from a young age,” Nicholas says. “…I’d love to make music like Daniel Caesar or James Blake and have this R&B thing through line to it. Who knows when I’m going back to work filming wise so I’m hoping to make some more music in this time.”
