Daniel Silva Offers Apology Nearly a Year After Corey La Barrie's Death

Daniel Silva is speaking out for the first time since Corey La Barrie‘s death.

The former Ink Master star was arrested for murder after the car he was driving, with Corey in the passenger seat, crashed. After being transported to the hospital, Corey died and Daniel was charged with one count of second degree murder.

He plead not guilty at the time, and instead took a no contest plea deal for one count of felony gross vehicular manslaughter.

Daniel had been sentenced to four years in state prison, but it was suspended. He was then sent to county jail for 365 days, with 216 days already served. Daniel is now on five years probation and in the process of completing 250 hours of community service.

“It’s almost impossible to find the right words for something like this. At the moment I’m still processing all of these emotions that I’m going through, and just being forced to confront the fact that this accident resulted in the death of one of my best friends,” Daniel said in the video.

The video also revealed that Corey‘s family reportedly sent a letter to the judge on Daniel‘s case and in it, they requested the dismissal of the second-degree murder charge in favor of manslaughter.

“It’s hard to put into words how truly grateful I am for the family to send a letter like this in such a difficult time,” he added. “The fact that they even showed me an ounce of empathy and were able to look past the misinformation instead of seeking vengeance shows how compassionate and understanding they really are.”
