'The Crown' Will Begin Filming Season Five With Brand New Cast in July

The Crown is almost back in production!

Variety is reporting that the hit Netflix series will be back on set in July, as lockdown protocols start to ease in England.

Season five is set to center on how the Royal Family embraces the 1990s, which was a unruly time for them and the era also brought on a divorce between Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

The new cast of The Crown includes Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret.

Just recently, Imelda opened up about taking on the sovereign role of Elizabeth from Claire Foy and Olivia Colman.

“I think my sort of extra challenge, as if I needed it, is that I’m now doing the Queen that we’re a little more familiar with,” she shared on BBC radio’s Woman’s Hour.

Imelda went on, saying, “With Claire Foy, it was almost history and now I’m playing one that people could say ‘she doesn’t do that,’ ‘she’s not like that,’ and that’s my personal bĂȘte noire.”

If you didn’t see, find out why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will never be a storyline on the series…
