Jeopardy! Reportedly In 'Advanced Negotiations' With Mike Richards To Become Permanent Host

Jeopardy! is very near to find a permanent host, and it just might be in executive producer Mike Richards, who guest hosted the program earlier this year.

Mike stepped behind the podium following Ken Jennings in February and fans quickly gave him their stamp of approval.

According to Variety, Sony Pictures Television and Mike are apparently in “advanced negotiations” for him to become permanent host of the quiz show.

He would step behind the podium following the passing of Alex Trebek, who hosted the program for 36 years.

Alex died in November of 2020 and shortly after, Sony introduced a lineup of guest hosts which also included Katie Couric, Aaron Rodgers, LeVar Burton and Mayim Bialik.

Variety added that a spokesperson for Sony Pictures stated that discussions were ongoing with several potential candidates. They would not pinpoint Mike‘s name however.

Another report last week revealed that these six guest hosts were in the serious running to take over hosting duties.
