Ant Anstead had a major misconception about his girlfriend Renee Zellweger before they started dating.

For those who don’t know, the couple met while filming an episode of the Discovery+ series Celebrity IOU: Joyride. Renee appeared on the show to restore two special cars for the men who served as caregivers for her late publicist Nanci Ryder during her battle with ALS.

Before Renee showed up on the episode, Ant and his co-host Cristy Lee discussed the two-time Oscar-winning actress’ career.

Cristy dropped a fun fact and said, “Did you know that during the filming of Bridget Jones’s Diary, Renee spoke with a British accent even when she wasn’t on set? In fact, she kept it up until the wrap party!”

Ant seemed shocked by this revelation and replied, “Are you telling me that Bridget Jones — Renee Zellweger — isn’t British?”

When Cristy revealed that Renee is from Texas, Ant jokingly said, “You’re like a dream crusher for me.”
