'Squid Game' Director Talks Potential of Season 2 for Netflix's New Hit Series
Squid Game is the new hit series on Netflix that has been taking over the charts!
The show is the first Korean drama to hit number one in the U.S. and it reached number one by its fourth day of availability. It’s still sitting in that slot right now.
Squid Game follows 456 desperate contestants who compete with each other in a mysterious and deadly survival game involving multiple rounds of childhood games to win 45.6 billion won (about $38.6 million) prize money that can pull them out of their misery.
In a new interview, the show’s writer-director Hwang Dong-hyuk opened up about the possibility of a second season.

Hwang says that he likely will return to making feature films before working on a second season of Squid Game, but it’s not out of the question.
“I don’t have well developed plans for Squid Game 2. It is quite tiring just thinking about it. But if I were to do it, I would certainly not do it alone. I’d consider using a writers’ room and would want multiple experienced directors,” he told Variety.
Netflix has committed to spend $500 million on content in Korea this year.
