'When Calls The Heart' Fan Favorite Daniel Lissing To Return as Jack For 'When Hope Calls' Special

Fans where heartbroken when Daniel Lissing departed When Calls The Heart at the end of season five after his character, Jack Thornton, presumably died during an avalanche.

However, that might not be the case as the 40-year-old actor is set to reprise his role in the When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas special.

According to Deadline, Daniel will be back as Jack. However, more details about how the character returns are being kept under wraps at this point in time.

Jack was a member of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police and married to Elizabeth (Erin Krakow), and was presumed dead. In the last episode of the season, while guiding a group of recruits, Jack was present when a sudden landslide occurred.

It was revealed later on that Jack had left Elizabeth a letter, in case he didn’t return from the assignment, that urged his wife to find love again. She did, in season eight, when she chose to be with Lucas.
