Barbara Corcoran Apologizes to Whoopi Goldberg After Making Body Shaming Joke

Barbara Corcoran is facing a lot of backlash after making a body shaming joke about Whoopi Goldberg on The View.

On Thursday (October 7), the 72-year-old Shark Tank judge made an appearance on the ABC morning talk show alongside Good American CEO and founder Emma Grede, who is set to become the first Black, female guest shark on Shark Tank.

During their conversation, The View co-host Sunny Hostin raved about Good American‘s size-inclusive jeans.

Whoopi, 65, then made a joke, saying, “Well, I have to try them…Will they fit this COVID [butt]?”

Barbara then responded, and people were not happy with what she said.

“When you get finished with those jeans, and decide you don’t like them, give them to me. I’m gonna make two pairs,” Barbara said.

The camera then panned to Whoopi, who looked both shocked and unamused with Barbara‘s comment.

Whoopi‘s co-host Ana Navarro then jumped in to defend her and threw a jab at the floral-print dress Barbara was wearing.

“Whoopi, let me just tell you something. Both Sara Haines and Jill Biden wore that dress already, on TV,” Ana clapped back at Barbara.

After the clip went viral, many people slammed Barbara for the body shaming joke she made about Whoopi.

Several hours later, Barbara took to Twitter to share a video, captioned “Love ya Whoopi” to apologize.

“I just came back from The View and saw my old friend Whoopi,” Barbara started. “She has a phenomenal sense of humor, and I’ve known Whoopi for years.”

Barbara continued, “I made a joke at Whoopi’s expense, which I now realize wasn’t funny. For anyone who I may have offended unintentionally, I just wanted to say I really am very sorry.”
