There's a Fan Theory About You's Joe Goldberg & His Origin Story

The hit Netflix series returned for Season 3 this past week, and already, viewers have some thoughts about Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) and his beginnings.

In Season 3, Joe and and Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) begin their life in suburbia, until the story takes a dark turn.

Fans have continuously noticed that there are some parallels between Joe Goldberg and Penn’s Gossip Girl character, Dan Humphrey.

According to fan theories online, Joe and Dan are the same person, and Joe is just Dan in disguise! As a result, some think that Dan’s story in Gossip Girl is actually Joe’s back story.

If you didn’t know, in the ending of Gossip Girl, Dan was revealed to be stalking his friends, and wrote a blog outing the characters and their secrets. Some speculate that You is the darker continuation of what happened next.
