Joan Rivers Limited Series Starring Kathryn Hahn No Longer Moving Forward - Here's the Reason Why

The Comeback Girl, a Showtime limited series set to star Kathryn Hahn as the late Joan Rivers, is no longer moving forward and has been scrapped completely.

The show was supposed to take place after the cancellation of The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers, which coincided with the death of her husband, Edgar Rosenberg, by suicide.

There’s a reason why the show is no longer going ahead.

When the project was announced, Joan‘s life rights had not yet been secured by producers. Her life rights are held by her daughter, Melissa Rivers. Variety is now citing “issues around the life rights,” implying that Melissa did not give permission (though that has not been made official at this time).

Joan died at the age of 81 on September 4, 2014 after a routine endoscopy. Her cause of death was revealed a few weeks later.
