Sienna Miller Awarded Substantial Payout In Damages From 'The Sun' Over 2005 Pregnancy

The 39-year-old actress was awarded a substantial payout from the newspaper The Sun‘s parent company, News UK, for the allegations she leveled against them. Sienna says the newspaper used “blatantly unlawful means” to obtain details about her 2005 pregnancy before it was even made public.

Sienna alleged that former Sun reporter (and now News UK CEO) Rebekah Brooks found out about her pregnancy before she was able to share the news with friends and family. Sienna added that court documents prove that Sun journalist Nick Parker met with a “medical records tracer” in the summer of 2005 to discuss her pregnancy and that information was then allegedly passed to Brooks, who then contacted Sienna‘s representatives to share that they knew her information.

“It was not my choice to be standing here, I wanted to go to trial,” Sienna told the crowd outside the court. “I wanted to expose the criminality that runs through the heart of this corporation. A criminality demonstrated clearly and irrevocably by the evidence which I have seen. I wanted to share News Group’s secrets just as they have shared mine.”

She continued, “Unfortunately that legal recourse is not available to me or to anyone who does not have countless millions of pounds to spend on the pursuit of justice. Such is our world. Until someone comes along who can confront the Murdochs’ endless means, all that I have left are these words. And they are the truth.”

Last year, Sienna opened up about the public heartbreak she experienced when her ex fiancee Jude Law had an affair with his nanny.
