The Tony Award-winning show’s last performance will be on Sunday, Jan. 16 2022 at the Imperial Theatre, per THR.

Ain’t Too Proud follows The Temptations’ journey from Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, featuring hit songs like “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Get Ready” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.”

The current cast includes Nik Walker as Otis Williams, James Harkness as Paul Williams, Jawan M. Jackson as Melvin Franklin, Matt Manuel as David Ruffin and Jelani Remy as Eddie Kendricks.

While no specific reason for the musical’s closure was given in the announcement, the decision comes after several Christmas performances were cancelled due to breakthrough cases in the company.

A number of other Broadway shows have also recently closed, including Waitress and Jagged Little Pill.

However, THR writes that despite productions announcing the end of their runs amid rising omicron cases, Broadway League president Charlotte St. Martin says that there is no plan for Broadway to shut down as a whole again.

Patti LuPone recently released a statement about why she missed two performances of Company and it had nothing to do with COVID-19.
