Teri Hatcher Reveals She Suffered a Miscarriage While Trying for Second Baby via Sperm Donor

Teri Hatcher is opening up about a miscarriage she had while trying for a second child.

During an appearance as a guest host of E! News’ Daily Pop on Thursday (January 20), the 57-year-old Desperate Housewives actress shared that she had experienced the miscarriage in her early 40s.

When fellow host Loni Love brought up sperm donors during a conversation about Ginnifer Goodwin‘s offer to donate her husband Josh Dallas‘ sperm to a friend, Teri said she had tried the method herself but that it “didn’t work out.”

“I tried to have a second child by myself and I went through that, got a sperm donor. I actually had a miscarriage, unfortunately,” she said. The actress is a mother to 24-year-old daughter Emerson, who she shares with ex-husband Jon Tenney.

She went on to say that having a baby via sperm donor “can be done” and that the process could be “fun.”

“Because you pick out literally, ‘Do they wear glasses? Did they have acne? How tall?’” Teri explained. “It’s very interesting when you think about it that way.”

She added that she wasn’t planning on opening up about her experience during the show. “I mean, who knew I was going to say that story today,” she said, “but I just did!”

Last year, the actress reunited with one of her Desperate Housewives co-stars for a new movie.
