Andrew Walker Binged 'Mare of Easttown' & 'True Detective' To Prepare For Hallmark's 'Curious Caterer' Movie
Andrew Walker is teaming back up again with Nikki DeLoach for an all-new signature series on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries called Curious Caterer Dying for Chocolate, and it’s debuting tonight!
The 42-year-old actor, who is a very familiar face on the network, has made three previous movies with Nikki and in a recent interview, is opening up about why they teamed back up for this one.
According to Andrew, he and Nikki decided together to do this one: “We said…because we’d already done three movies together, we have the trust of the audience so let’s try to do something and bring something to people that’s much different than anything they’d ever seen us in.”

In the same interview with Southern Living, Andrew opened up about getting into character as Detective Tom Schultz.
“I really tried to get into the nooks and crannies of who this guy was,” he said. “…to go deep in on who this guy is. If you really think about all the experiences a detective goes through or a police officer goes through in a city like San Francisco for example, there’s some dark stuff that they see, that they have to work through.”
Andrew continued, “I really want to bring in the fact that Tom is processing a divorce, his wife at the time in San Francisco, he decided to move back to Elk Park because she wanted to. And then when he committed to moving, she decided not to go with him.”
He also revealed that he studied a few present-day fictional detectives to prepare.
“I watched shows like True Detective and I watched shows like Mare of Easttown which is a lot of fun to get into that world and the psyche of law enforcement, detectives in particular.”
Here’s a summary of the movie: Goldy (DeLoach), a spirited single mom, is thrust into the role of town sleuth to help solve a friend’s mysterious death. With the clock ticking to find the culprit, Goldy strikes up an unlikely partnership with Detective Tom Schultz (Walker), who leans into Goldy’s local knowledge.
But just as their relationship shows signs of becoming something more, the suspect list rises. Will Goldy narrow in on the killer before the killer narrows in on her?
Curious Caterer Dying for Chocolate debuts TONIGHT, April 10 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
